CHALLENGE
British Telecom subsidiary Telfort BV is a mobile services operator in the Netherlands. Telfort entered the market aggressively with an ad hoc approach to distribution, selling low cost service packages and handsets in such places as grocery stores. Telfort then set targets to sell higher value subscriber packages to continue to grow market share. The problem was that current channels did not provide access to the high value consumers Telfort sought. The Sales Director realized his team needed a more strategic approach in evaluating and identifying channels to pursue, but did not have a process in place to do this.
